New Student Orientation
Information
The school conducts several programs during the year to orient new students and families.
• A kindergarten orientation program for students and parents takes place in the spring and includes classroom visits for prospective
kindergartners. Students must turn five by September 1 to be eligible for kindergarten that year.
• In late August, a welcome and orientation program takes place for all students new to Loring who have moved to Sudbury during the
summer (or who are enrolling from private schools). In addition to building tours, students will receive their classroom assignment at
this meeting.
• Staff meet with students who are transferring to Loring in the middle of the school year on an ongoing, as-needed basis. This is
informal and consists of a brief meeting with the principal or designee, a tour and the completion of paperwork pertaining to
registration.
