PBIS

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports is a multi-tiered system of tools and strategies for defining, teaching, acknowledging appropriate behavior, and correcting inappropriate behavior that is consistently implemented both in and out of the classroom (hallway, bathroom, bus, etc.).  PBIS focuses on preventing problem behavior while facilitating the development of prosocial skills.

Similar to academics, it is just as important to directly teach appropriate behavior and social competence skills.  In PBIS, we do not assume that students will learn social behavior automatically or pick it up as they go through life.

At Loring School, we care about our students and staff.  By implementing a PBIS model, we hope to increase student academic performance, decrease problem behavior, and increase safety.  As a result, our ultimate goal is to establish a positive school climate through research-based strategies.

Students and classes who demonstrate behaviors that line up to our Core Values can earn PAWS toward a reward.  Behaviors that are go above and beyond are highlighted in daily announcements and special shout-outs throughout the year.
